Pumping operations (set-up / pumping)

Baustelleneinsatz
The fuel consumption of an industrial machine with an internal combustion engine primarily depends on the engine speed at which it is operated. In the upper engine speed range, consumption increases rapidly. With EOC (Ergonic Output Control), PM concrete pumps always automatically stay in an economic and environmentally-friendly range.

- Ergonic Output Control (EOC)

EOC is an electronically-controlled output regulation system that adjusts the engine speed automatically to suit the delivery rate selected.
It helps the machine operator to maintain as economic a usage level as possible. Pumping operations, which can usually be executed at low engine speeds, lead to lower fuel consumption and, therefore, lower diesel costs. The important thing is ensuring that the highest torque is available at the specific low engine speed. This allows high delivery pressure even at this level.

- Wait times

Another possible way of reducing consumption is to consistently switch off the engine during long wait periods, e.g. caused by slow concrete mixer loading. In this way, modern diesel engines consume approximately 2.5-3.0 l of fuel per hour at idling speed, providing that no other consumers, such as power take-off or climate control, are switched on. Fuel consumption at start is the same as the amount consumed during 3 seconds of idling.

- Adjust delivery rate to the truck mixer supply

High delivery rates always lead to high fuel consumption. There is also the risk that the fill level in the pump may drop when cylinder strokes are fast because the concrete is not conveyed as quickly. A high-volume pump can also be operated at a moderate speed. Rule of thumb: only as fast as necessary.
Side effect: since wear in the delivery line is heavily influenced by the delivery rate, slow, consistent pumping also increases the service life of the delivery line.
